FGCU Good Grubs: At Home Quarantined Style

Hello and welcome back! I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy during this crazy time. Since all restaurants in the area are doing take out only, and we are supposed to be quarantining ourselves; our group thought it would be best to prepare a home cooked meal. We hope that our meal may give you some ideas when you are preparing a meal at home.

Keaton's Meal:
This week I cooked pork chops, rice (white & brown), red peppers, onions, and squash. I grilled the pork chops, and vegetables. I used Garlic salt, Montreal Steak, pepper, and salt as the seasoning. We boiled both the white and brown rice. This meal was very easy to prepare and didn’t take much time at all! It also has a great amount of protein and carbs!
This was FGCU Good Grubs first home cooked meal. Boy was it good! I  made pork chops, rice, red peppers, squash, and onions. I grilled everything besides the rice. The pork chops were so good, I wish I had more. I put montreal steak and garlic salt on the pork chops to spice up the flavor.
The combination of the rice, pork, and peppers was delicious. I personally made the pork myself. I grilled each piece of pork roughly 5-7 minutes per side. Juice was leaking off of the pork by the time I was done flippin it. Anyways, the flavor of the dish was amazing. The meal didn't take long to prepare either, which is on the plus side. Speaking of plus sides, it was unreal mixing the red peppers with the rice, because the rice wasn’t as dry.
The meal was delicious. I can’t stress enough about how good the meal was. It is a very weird time for all of us. Everyone across the world is aware of what is happening. I really hope we inspired you to create a dish like ours. Making this meal brought me and my family together. During this time I realized how important family and friends are to me. Don’t take anything you have for granted.
Overall, I give this meal a 7.8 on a scale from 10. It was a delicious meal. You may think a 7.8 is a low rating but it is not. I highly recommend this meal to anyone who eats meat. It is quick and easy. At a time like this, when we're all quarantined, it is best for us to make home cooked meals. I/we really hope you guys will consider this for your next meal! Stay Safe!

Tara's Meal:
This week I had made a homemade Sloppy Joe. I was very hesitant on making the dish in the first place, due to always making it in the Publix (pre-made) powder kit.
I began with putting the ground beef, onion, and jalapeƱos on a pan over medium. I then added beef. You then let the sit for over 6 minutes.
You then add ketchup, apple cider vinegar, tomato sauce, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir for about 8 minutes.
Then addd cheddar cheese, cream cheese, and bacon.
Overall the meal was delicious. I feel it did not need as much apple cider vinegar it asked for, but I was not dissatisfied. I highly recommend this for an easy, go-to meal. I would say the meal was a good 6.7/10, I have made better dishes, but was not half as bad as I thought it would.

Pino's Meal:
As Keaton said, we decided to do a home cooked meal for this week’s blog post! As we practice our safe social distancing, we each made our own meals in our safe quarantined homes. I made bacon wrapped chicken breast with a side mac and cheese. I made this at my safe, San Carlos Park frat house. The bacon wrapped chicken was baked in the oven and the mac and cheese was made on the stovetop. The chicken was amazingly juicy and the bacon was nice and crisp. The mac and cheese was just your average mac and cheese but it really did hit the spot. I had to get seconds!
Not to toot my own horn or anything, but this meal was amazing. I would give it a solid 9.5/10. The cook who made it was a very talented chef with lots of experience in the culinary industry.
